제목: The Largest-scale cosmological hydrodynamic simulation : Horizon Run 5

 초록:

Dark matter forms cosmic large-scale structures, such as filaments, voids, and clusters, through gravitational collapse. Since baryonic matter (gas clouds) can cool off by radiating energy, they fall into centers of the dark matter structures and form stars. A gravitationally bound system consisting of the stars, interstellar medium of the gas clouds and dark matter is a so-called galaxy. Energetic feedbacks from supernovae (explosion of stars at death) and from active galactic nuclei (super massive black hole that actively accrete matter and reradiate energy) influence subsequent evolution of galaxy: gas accretion and star formation. Thanks to high-performance computing and recent numerical techniques, we can describe the formation and evolution of galaxies with detailed and realistic physical models. Comparison between observed galaxies in the real universe and a simulated universe enables us to better understand the physical processes of galaxy formation and evolution. In this talk, I will introduce an on-going simulation project, the largest-scale cosmological hydrodynamic simulation: Horizon Run 5, which is led by KIAS colleagues and me.
